Traineeships
A School-based Traineeship is a mix of academic, vocational and technical education and training as well as paid employment where a student’s school studies, training and work all fit together. Allowing high school students in year 10, 11 or 12 to work for an employer, train towards a recognised qualification, and complete their secondary school studies, it gives them a head start on their career path and an important link to the world of work.
On the student’s nominated school day (as well as after school hours and weekends) they spend one day per week (7.5 hours) in the workplace or in a classroom environment for theoretical training. Some of the benefits that AAS believe this opportunity presents for your organisation include:
- Sourcing your future workforce in the sport and recreation industry;
- Increasing the participation in sport of young people in Schools or clubs;
- Assistance in the management and coaching of schools and clubs sport teams;
- Support for events and clinics conducted within schools and clubs;
- Assist staff with the planning and implementation of sporting carnivals, camps and open days;
- Sports trainees can work within your school/club as a coach, umpire, administrator or officiator;
- Opportunities to link school, club and sports orgnisations events with sporting organisation partners;
- Benefits of a free employee to support the host’s objectives; and
- Assist existing employees to achieve their outcomes.
