BUSINESS, RETAIL & HOSPITALITY

Your career is our ambition

We have created a program combining sport development with an educational pathway through the business, retail, asset maintenance and hospitality industries. The program is designed to offer students a career pathway in their chosen future career while they study through a school based traineeship.

How is the program delivered?

  1. Students must first gain support from their school to undertake a school based traineeship.
  2. AAS works with a trainee to source a host employer, who will supervise and direct students on behalf of AAS.
  3. A student’s work placement needs to be matched with their qualification that they are studying.
  4. Once a host employer has been confirmed the school works with the student to modify their timetable to include time for working and training with the Registered Training Organisation.
  5. Students are required to work a minimum of 7.5 hours per week for a total of 360 hours per qualification.

What are the benefits for students?

  • Earn while you learn
  • Get nationally accredited qualifications
  • Start your future career while study year 10, 11 or 12
  • Increase your chance into university, if you are OP ineligible
  • Boost your Tertiary Selection Rank Score to 68 through completion of a Certificate III
  • Practical hands on and work experience in your chosen career
  • Improve your employment prospects with your host employer when you finish your traineeship
  • Gain a history of paid employment within the industry of your choice before leaving school
  • Opportunity to begin a career early and a smooth transition from school to work
