About AAS
Australian Academy of Sport Limited (AAS) was officially launched in 2009 with the aim of providing opportunities for athletes and sports minded individuals to gain employment and training in the sports and recreation industry.
AAS is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated towards the personal and professional development of individuals and organisations engaged in the sport and recreation industry including athletes, administrators, coaches, officials, community based organisations and volunteers. AAS employs trainees and then places them with a host business for the duration of the traineeship.
Our headquarters are based at Runaway Bay, Gold Coast. AAS offers unmatched potential in achieving sporting excellence whilst providing volunteering and work experience opportunities.
How GTO works
AAS Group Training program aims to provide sports players’ entry into the workforce, primarily in the sports industry.
AAS employs apprentices and trainees and then places them with a host business, for varying periods, until the apprenticeship or traineeship has been completed. With Group Training, employers have the advantage of carefully selected apprentices and trainees, with a flexible placement term and minus the hassle of paperwork and payroll.
In addition to managing the administrative requirements of apprenticeships and traineeships, AAS also takes care of the recruitment process and provides ongoing monitoring and support throughout the term of the placement to make sure everything runs smoothly.
Group Training Organisations today employ 20% of Australia’s traditional trade apprentices, 1 in 5 Indigenous Australian apprentices and trainees and 1 in five apprentices and trainees with a disability.
AAS has strong relationships with an extensive network of employers, possesses practical in-depth industry knowledge and has the expertise and experience to successfully match apprentices and trainees to specific vacancies.
Through our close links with schools and Registered Training Organisations we can assist in making vocational education and training accessible to both business and those seeking employment, whether young or older.
