The Chairman
The Honourable Robert Borbidge AO – Rob retired from the Queensland Parliament in 2001 after serving 20 years as MP for Surfers Paradise. He served as Queensland's 45th Premier and also in a number of other senior positions including Leader of the Opposition and a raft of senior portfolios.
He is currently Deputy Chair of the Griffith University Foundation and a Trustee of Friends of Griffith University in the USA. He serves as Chairman of the Executive Task Force for the Institute for Glycomics and a member of the Griffith University Council.
He has served on the Board of a number of private and public companies including the North Queensland based CEC Group and Early Learning Services and is currently a Director of Cedar Creek Cellars and Rotec Design Limited.
He was awarded a Centenary Medal in 2001, an Honorary Doctorate at Griffith University in 2005 and made an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2006.
Directors
Mr. Paul Wyatt – Paul is a legal practitioner on the Gold Coast and Managing Director of a consulting company providing expertise in the hospitality, sporting and general business sectors. Formerly, he was the CEO and Executive Director of the Southport Sharks Football Club.
He is a former Director of the Gold Coast Academy of Sport and a member of the Gold Coast Business Sports Taskforce. He is currently a member of the Glycomics Institute Executive Fundraising Taskforce and was a member of the team bidding for the establishment of the National Rugby League Team, the Gold Coast Titans. He is a guest lecturer at Griffith University’s School of Tourism and Hotel Management.
Mr. Mike Jones – Mike's career within the tourism and hospitality industry has spanned 37 years having arrived in Australia in 1981 as the food and beverage manager of the Parmelia Hilton in Perth. In 1986, Alan Bond employed Mike to be involved in the concept and design of Bond Corporation's Observation City Resort Hotel on Scarborough Beach where he spent six and a half years as general manager before venturing east to Queensland's Gold Coast.
Mike has been the general manager of the Gold Coast International Hotel for the past 16 years and currently runs a successful hotel management company called TOPMAN or 'Tourism Operational Management.'
Mike has held the position of deputy chairman of the Gold Coast Tourism Bureau and is currently the president of the Gold Coast SKAL Club. In 1999, Mike was inducted into the QHA hall of fame for his commitment to tourism in Queensland.
